21 Nov – New York City: Peter Stuyvesant Aviation Seminar with Pieter Bouw
100 Years KLM: The Netherlands and the United States
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines was established on October 7, 1919. It is the oldest airline still operating under its own name. It began scheduled services between Amsterdam and London, gradually expanding by serving a few other destinations in Europe. KLM pioneered long-distance flights to the so-called Dutch East Indies, now Indonesia, to improve connections within the Kingdom of the Netherlands. That pioneering spirit is still part of the DNA of the company. Dr. Bouw will discuss challenges now faced by KLM, part of the Air France-KLM Group: How will KLM deal with further strategic integration within the Sky Team Alliance? the limited capacity at their main base, Schiphol Airport? the ecological footprint of commercial aviation?
